How pricing works
No two stumps are alike, so no two prices are either. What never changes is the method: we look at the stump, build the price from the same fair factors every time, and quote it firm and free before any grinding starts. Here is exactly how it works.
Firm price, quoted free
How pricing works
Diameter drives it
We measure the stump across at ground level. A bigger stump is more wood, more grinding, and more time, so the width of your stump is the biggest factor in your price.
Hard wood, hard work
Oak and hickory chew slow and work the teeth hard. Pine and poplar grind quick and easy. The kind of wood your stump is made of shapes the quote, and we factor it in before we name a number.
Flare and access count
A wide root flare means more grinding beyond the trunk, and a stump tucked behind a fence or up a slope takes more doing than one sitting in the open. Your quote covers all of it, up front, so nothing ambushes you later.
More stumps, better deal
Second, third, and fourth stumps on the same visit cost less per stump. The machine is already there, so clearing the whole yard is the smart play.
What sets your price
Five things go into every quote, the same five for every yard. Know them and you will understand exactly what your number is built on.
| Factor | What we look at | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Diameter | How wide the stump measures across at ground level | The biggest driver. More wood means more grinding and more time. |
| Wood hardness | Oak and hickory versus pine and poplar | Hard, dense wood chews slower and works the teeth harder. |
| Root flare | How wide the roots spread out from the trunk | Wide flares get chased out too, so the mower stops bouncing. |
| Access | Gates, fences, slopes, and the walk from the truck | Tight or steep spots take more setup and more care. |
| Stump count | How many stumps come out on the same visit | Extras cost less per stump, the machine is already there. |
What is included
Grind below ground
The stump is ground down below ground level, deep enough to seed, sod, or plant over the spot.
Roots chased
Surface roots radiating from the stump get ground too, so the mower stops bouncing.
Chips raked neat
Standard service is grind-only: the mulch chips stay in the hole, raked level. They make great mulch, and hauling them off is the pricey part nobody warns you about.
Firm price first
You approve the number before the wheel spins. If we find something unexpected underground, we stop and talk, not bill.
One honest note: before any grind, utility lines get marked. Call 811 locates are free, and we build that into scheduling. It protects your yard and our teeth, the grinder's and Adam's.
